The herd will be sold in groups, on a first come first served basis, with realistic pricing of groups and individuals.

Andrew and Carol Brown from Hampsthwaite near Harrogate have decided to cease milk production from their 100 cow pedigree herd over the coming months.

The herd is very youthful with many cows in their first, second or third lactation and there are also 40 heifers to calve over the coming months.
The herd is currently milked twice a day and averages 8200 litres at 4.25% fat and 3.33% protein on a simple system based on self fed silage and grass, with concentrate fed in the parlour.
The cows are sired by popular AI sires such as Shottle, Roy, Manat, Drake, Leader, Sinatra, Freeman and Eddie, heifers to calve this summer are by bulls such as Zenith, Drake and Bolton. The herd is characterised by medium sized very functional cattle with good feet and legs, dairy strength and well attached udders and viewing of the herd is highly recommended.
Service sires include bulls such as Reece, Garrison and Design as well as very well bred Shottle sons.
The herd has been closed for a number of years and is currently vaccinated for BVD and Lepto. Cows are cubicle housed on mattresses and sawdust.
The dry period is circa 60 days with Leo Red and Orboseal used at drying off. Foot bathing is done routinely on a monthly basis with Lincospectin.
Bulk tank cell count is running under 250, with a few cows which will not be sold on contributing significantly to this figure.
All animals are registered with Holstein UK, although not classified there are many individuals that would score EX, VG and GP.
